TOP 5 VENUES IN CORNWALL
As couples start planning their dream wedding, one of the most crucial decisions they face is selecting the perfect venue. Beyond its practicality, a wedding venue sets the stage for the entire celebration, embodying the couple's style, personality, and love story. For design-focused couples, the venue becomes not just a backdrop but a huge part of their wedding narrative, a space where every detail coordinates to create an unforgettable experience. As a design-focused wedding planner, here are my five favourite venues to work at, that all tell a different story, in Cornwall.
Roscarrock
Roscarrock may be a farm, but it’s a farm like no other. It is probably my favourite venue in Cornwall to work at. It is the family home of the Sloman family, but it is exactly that, Robert, Kate, Philip and Mary could not do enough for you, they welcome and look after you like you’re members of their family.
The property itself is also incredible, the grounds of the grade 1-listed Manor House is perfect for your ceremony, your welcome drinks and your canapés, they are just pure magical. With a traditional walled garden holding marquees for up to 300 guests and complete with fairy lighting, electric supply, water supply and independent access for providers, the facilities available will honestly not fail to impress.
It is always a dream to work at Roscarrock, it will be love at first sight when you view this this rustic, but perfectly kept venue.
Burncoose
I don’t know where to start with Burncoose, it is the most beautiful backdrop for your wedding day. It feels so special when you drive up to the house along the flower lined driveway and pull up outside the house
Burncoose House can provide an elegant backdrop for marquee receptions for up to 150 guests on the lawn, where drinks and canapés can be served in the spacious reception rooms within the house or if Cornwall spoils you and it’s sunny, on the front terrace overlooking the gardens and ground. Or, in my honest opinion, the house comes alive when you choose to have your intimate wedding here. The breakfast can be accommodated in the dining room or the beautifully restored conservatory (my favourite room in the house!).
As well as venue hire, you can hire the entire house for self catered accommodation, and what more could you want than to wake up in a manor house, on your wedding day, overlooking an incredible garden.
Beacon Crag
The views from Beacon Crag are what sold this venue to me. Whether it’s absolutely pouring with rain, or bright gorgeous sunshine, this venue sells Cornwall in all it’s glory and shows your guests exactly what this county is about.
There are some gorgeous part to this venue that allow you to keep your ceremony, your drinks and your reception all separate, allowing a natural flow to the wedding day.
Picture it; a marquee, with all the sides open, the golden light of the setting sun flooding through, your friends and family mingling, dancing and laughing, while overlooking the stunning ocean (and maybe, just maybe, a few dolphins giving you an incredible show out at sea!).
Place Manor
I fell in love with this venue the first time I pulled up to it’s spectacular doorway.
The first wedding I did at this venue I was lucky enough to be offered a room on site by my wonderful couple (thank you A&S, I will never take it for granted!!), so I think this definitely helped with my love for this venue. But even without that, Place Manor holds a magic that I believe will make you fall in love with it too.
With having the marquee at the bottom of the garden, you overlook St Mawes and get to watch the sunset over the Roseland while sipping espresso martinis with your friends and family! It’s just cornish perfection!
I honestly don’t have a lot to say about Place Manor, but that is definitely because it makes me lost for words.
Pengenna Manor
Whether the plan for your big day is a grand affair with a grand guest list, or a simple get-together with a handful of your closest friends, the Manor is the perfect venue thanks to it’s six licensed locations!
Like Roscarrock, Pengenna is a beautifully rustic venue that is perfectly taken care of. With so many different locations you can make your wedding day flow naturally from area to area.
The Cowyard Barn and the Stables, are perfect for rustic receptions. These 200-year-old buildings have been restored to create gorgeous undercover spaces for seated dinners for up to 100 guests which you can make your own.
So yes, selecting the perfect wedding venue is a deeply personal and transformative experience for design-focused couples. Whether it’s an intimate gathering infused with rustic charm or a grand affair set against a backdrop of Cornish splendor, the right venue sets the stage for the love story to unfold in all its beauty. By embracing creativity, innovation, and a keen eye for design, couples can create a wedding celebration that not only reflects their style and personality but also leaves a lasting impression on their guests and their hearts.
